"Dominion has conducted cultural resources surveys to identify archaeological sites
and architectural resources for the pipeline segments using a 200-foot-wide study
corridor and access roads using a 50-foot-study corridor.

In West Virginia, Dominion conducted a Phase Ia background study for the
proposed pipeline segments, TL 570 and TL590 and reroutes, 20 access roads , 4 pipe
yards, and the Burch Ridge, Lewis-Wetzel, Morrison, Schutte, Pepper and Chelyan
compressor stations.

The West Virginia SHPO recommended that Lewis-Wetzel, Morrison, Schutte,
Pepper and Chelyan compressor stations, and pipeline segment TL-570 did not require pedestrian survey because of prior disturbance or steep slopes. Dominion conducted a Phase Ib pedestrian survey of pipeline segment TL-590 and the Burch Ridge compressor station.

The survey identified 10 archaeological sites (see Table 2.6.1-2).

Six of the 10 sites were recommended potentially eligible for listing in the NRHP.

Three sites would be avoided by the current proposed pipeline route.

Dominion conducted Phase II testing at the 3 other sites and recommended that 2
are not eligible for listing in the NRHP.

One archaeological site 46Mr139, was recommended eligible for listing in the NRHP.

Since Dominion is unable to avoid the site, Dominion would prepare a treatment plan,
in consultation with the appropriate parties, to mitigate adverse effects.

The FERC would need to execute a Memorandum of Agreement with the West Virginia SHPO for the resolution of adverse effects, and provide the ACHP an opportunity to comment in accordance with 36 CFR 800.6.

The architectural survey identified 6 resources, none of which Dominion
recommended as eligible for listing in the NRHP. In a December 1, 2010, letter the West
Virginia SHPO requested additional information documenting test areas and existing
conditions before completing its review."
